Dr. Hernandez is a Canadian Board-Certified Pediatrician. She completed her undergraduate Medical training at Corpas University and Pediatric residency training at Javeriana University in Bogota- Colombia.

Her passion for her profession and interest in Pediatric Emergency Medicine led her to complete a clinical fellowship in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and subsequently a fellowship in Pediatric Medicine both at the University of Toronto’s Hospital for sick children.

Soon after her fellowship Dr. Hernandez took a role in teaching and mentoring medical learners at McMaster university in the Department of Pediatric Emergency Medicine. During her over 8 yr at McMaster University she particularly enjoyed working with undergraduate students and with the Centre for Simulation-Based Learning.

Dr. Hernandez is also very passionate about personalized medical care and in 2017 she became a Consultant Pediatrician to further support her community by working closely together with her patients and their families.

Dr. Hernandez has varied clinical interests, including pediatric dermatology, caring for children new to Canada and supporting mothers who choose to breast feed.

Dr. Hernandez speaks Spanish fluently, allowing her to make families whose English is not their first language feel comfortable and confident their children’s needs will be understood and met.

During her spare time, Dr. Hernandez enjoys hiking with her husband and spending time with her family, especially with her 2 nephews.
